I'm sorry, I'm all for the right to bear arms, but who in their right fucking mind thinks it's okay to take out a gun and shoot a man in a movie theater because he was texting his daughter during the previews?!
Man killed in movie theater over texting.

You can't regulate psychosis; that's got very little to do with laws and firearms. Batshit crazy fucks will do what they do, if they have to use a soda straw.

As kham said, the fact that a firearm was used is irrelevant. Who in their right mind thinks it's okay to assault someone over this?

Nothing. It's a crazy asshole. Let's not pull a media trick and make this to be a global trend.

And it wasn't even during the movie- it was still during the previews.
Sounds like the guy just snapped. When somebody carrying a gun has a psychotic break, that ain't good.
On a side note, the news reports mentioned the guy was a retired law enforcement officer. Even in NYC, with some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, exception is made for retired LEOs.

Ex-Piggy asks Douchebag to stop texting in a movie theater, Douchebag responds with verbal harassment and throws popcorn at the Ex-Piggy. Ex-Piggy gets mad because nobody respects his authoritah anymore and throws a temper tantrum with a gun......can't say I have much sympathy for either party involved here. One died because he chose to be an asshole and one will spend the rest of his life in prison because he got hit with a box of popcorn......

There's a word that could go a long way here: RESPECT. Everyone wants respect, but a lot of people don't want to give it to others. Well, respect is a two-way street: the best way to get it for yourself is to give it to others. That seems to be something that was forgotten here.
In my home state of Arizona, there is an admonition given before every high school sporting event for fans, coaches, officials and players to respect each other and engage in sportsmanship at all times. Everyone is reminded to provide a good example for the young people involved. Sometimes the admonition goes unheeded, but, for the most part, people behave themselves.
When human beings show each other mutual respect, incidents like this one don't happen.

There's the root of it right there. Political correctness and the death of civility are more at fault than anything. It's manifested every day in road rage incidents and bad service in "service" related industries. The extermination of standards of behavior, common sense, and personal responsibility, are going to end civilized living.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.
