As the games wind down, the Big Money medal events are here; Hockey of course being the main events for both the Men and Women's teams. Once again, the girls lead the way and show how it's done
Anyone who says that women's hockey isn't exciting, or worth watching? Doesn't know what the hell they talking about. The game today between Canada and USA was better than 90% of the NHL games I've seen this year.
Medals:
Canada Gold
USA Silver
Swiss Bronze
Next main event: USA v Canada tomorrow in semifinals
Sweden v Finland
to set up the final medal matchups
Olympic Hockey

Re: Olympic Hockey
I was wondering when this would go up...
How to bring an office to a standstill? Run the gold medal game live at 12 noon between two top contenders whose competitive spirit generated enough heat to melt the television.
Have one team battle back from a two-goal deficit to force OT in the last minute of play after suffering a close call on their open net.... then take eight more heart stopping moments to bring the game to a satisfying/heartbreaking end.
Of course, being north of the 49th... I pick satisfying...
Congrats Team Canada 2014 on a hard fought, dramatic victory!
And hats off to the ladies of Team USA for making our ladies fight for every moment of that final. It was truly a battle of equals... and the best hockey I've seen, period.

Re: Olympic Hockey
Finland takes the Bronze Medal
And Forsberg, ex-NHLer, now just whiny little scrunt, getting his pre-emptive excuse whinage started early by whining that the officials are from the NHL and Canadian. Gee, dickhead, I didnt see you complaining when they were all Swedes in one of the worst officiated games ever, that let you win. Suck it up, BITCH. You always were an asshole who needed his face beaten in for dirty play, but cowered like a BITCH when it came payback time.
I hope we fucking destroy them. I just wanted to win. Now I want pain and blood

Re: Olympic Hockey
Time for gold medal game is corrected to 0700 Eastern Time, so staying up all night is not necessary. Although that's still damned early for a Sunday
Edit:
did anyone watch the bronze medal game?

No, but looking at the highlights, I'm fucking pissed. Anybody who whines about the women crying about their silver medals needs to see the US men just up and virtually quit on that game. At least the women fought in their game, even if they weren't happy with the result. The men just up and rolled over for Finland. Embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing. If the NHL doesn't ever allow their stars back to play in the Olympics, the disgrace that is the USA mens team is going to ultimately be the rightful scapegoat for it.

Re: Olympic Hockey
The measure of their olympics shouldn't be 2 goals in 11 seconds in the 2nd Period, but it likely will be.
How about Teemu Selanne? He had more jump and energy than anyone on the ice, scored twice including the game winner. And he's an old man fer chrissake. At 43 doing this stuff just is something else.

Re: Olympic Hockey
And that is how you do that
Canada takes the gold with a 3-0 shutout win. Goal scorers were Jonathan Toews (GW), Sidney Crosby (breakaway), and Chris Kunitz (turnover). Goals were all even strength so take that whiner
Note to NHL coaches and GMs who like to play trap or try and clog neutral zone: the best way to play defence is to play 200' from your own net. Much more effective
