Took Some More Pics Of The Aquarium

Postby Mynock » Mon Jun 02, 2014 6:53 pm

Picked up some new interesting species over the past few months to go with my Wolf Fish.
The original Baby Sea Monster.....getting bigger and meaner by the day.

Senegal Bichir--drop off fish at the pet store, got him practically for free. Supposedly he was in a tank full of Neon Tetra's.....then he got big enough for them to fit in his mouth and they mysteriously started disappearing.

Ornate Bichir--liked the senegalus so much I ordered this one. Naturally the one I paid full price for is shy and won't come out for picture time....

Clown Knifefish--Pic doesn't do him justice.....beautiful fish just wish he'd hold still so I could get a decent pic.

Saved the best for last--picked up this Spotted Gar about a week ago. Another drop-off. Don't know what the hell is wrong with people. You have a giant cool looking predator that's eating your dumb little Neons, and you get rid of......the giant cool looking predator fish? Whatever, I'll take him. Try to ignore the zombie in the background lol.....damn reflections.

Nope, freshwater. I just call them sea monsters because they're weird primitive fish. I'm basically just hopping from continent to continent and picking out the ones that got bored with evolution and making the weirdest aquarium possible.

Since at least one of them feasted on neon tetras, which are freshwater fish, I KNEW that they had to be freshwater fish. 8-)
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

A google search turns up the following:

The spotted gar is the smallest member of the gar family. It is native to eastern North America, formerly from southern Ontario southward to the Mississippi delta. It is now found mostly in the Mississippi and southern Great Lakes, mainly because its preferred breeding habitat has been largely destroyed by man.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

^^It's funny how behavior in the aquarium can be totally different than that in the wild. This one's a finger chaser (although I'm trying to discourage that) with no fear whatsoever of open water, seems to actually prefer playing in the current from the pumps.
