So - what is their football team going to be called next year?

Going to have to get rid of all the team names and just call them "Generic Non-Offensive Sports Team 1" through "Generic Non-Offensive Sports Team 32".
Oops......wait.... now members of the Associates of the Society for Social Homogeneity Of Life Everywhere are complaining that people who can't count are offended........back to the drawing board.

And I thought political correctness was only found in the UK ! So will they now be called "The Washington Indigenous Peoples " ? If so, I'll have to get some new jerseys and posters ! :D

Okay, given what we often see in Washington from our :?: "leaders," how about Washington Red Faces?

I've been in Washington in July, and I had a few encounters with the local heat and humidity, as well as the local flying insect population. While appropriate, Washington Mosquitos just doesn't sound right.

Here's another one. Given how much money Washington spends that they don't have, how about Washington Red Inks? Think about it. They'd only have to move a couple of letters around.

I know someone who suggested they change their name to something that include skins, but I feel uncomfortable repeating it as it refers to a certain male reproductive organ.

Washington Bailouts? Washington Bureaucrats?

How about Washington Lobbyists? The cheerleaders' pom-pons would look like bags of money. The mascot would be wearing a three-piece suit, carrying a bag of money, and have a smary smile on his face. Hey, if Yuma High School in Arizona can name their teams the Criminals, we can name a team in Washington the Lobbyists!

Washington Jackasses would be appropriate, but that would refer to the symbol of one of the two major parties. We could call them the Washington Donkeys or Elephants, depending on which party is in power.

Wait a minute! I got it! I got a name that will indicate how tough they are, and will thoroughly intimidate their opponents: the WASHINGTON TAX MEN!! They would all wear uniform No. 1040. Why, no one would dare cheat against them!

Well...you DID ask!

Just signed a petition to change the team name to the Washington Tea Party, and the team logo to the Gadsden Flag.

And play this song every time the team takes the field: http://youtu.be/NmvG2ZiPfoo

(FYI some of the lyrics were originally penned by Ben Franklin)

I saw that, too. Personally, I like the idea of using the Gadsden Flag on the helmets. It certainly looks more intimidating than the logos I see on a lot of NFL helmets.

My information is that they have agreed to remove the offensive word from the team name

They will be known as The Redskins
