So, after 120 minutes of play, plus extra time, 2 teams playing to not lose as opposed to win (see Germany for how that works) the whole thing devolves into a 0-0 penalty kickfest that the worse team , Argentina, wins

The Germany/Brazil thing is mind blowing.....not the game itself but the reaction. People in Brazil are sobbing like babies and flagellating themselves in the streets.....for the love of God people it's a Soccer game not the frigging apocalypse.

In many ways, football has replaced religion in most of Europe.

Pretty much covers it, having one of your best players out didn't help. But this IS supposed to be a team sport, not a skills competition, despite the last game's result. I like his point, remember not how badly Brazil was de-panted for all to see, but just how damn good the Germans are.

I'm familiar with soccer primarily at the high school level here in the states. I admit I haven't been watching too much of the World Cup coverage as I don't have cable TV or a satellite dish and I live out in the boonies. However, from what I have seen, I can honestly say the game at that world-class level is a thing of beauty to watch. It was like watching Little Leaguers play baseball and then watching the Major Leagues. You can see just how good the big leaguers really are.

When you're watching the World Cup, it's like watching the best craftsmen in the world going head to head against each other.

I will add that for those guys to run up and down a big field like that with very few time outs, they must be in incredible shape.

Baseball is my game, and likely always will be. However, I have developed a respect for soccer (or football, if you prefer). I can see why so many people around the world love the game.

Good luck to both teams in the World Cup finals. May the better team win. You will have proven yourselves against the best in the world.
