Was sorting through some old files tonight, and generally trying to organize HD better When came across some stuff had almost forgotten. Where would we be in moviemaking without giants such as John Williams?

I love John Williams. One of the reasons I love him is that he's not afraid to let the brass section lead the orchestra. This is why Jurassic Park is my favourite.

Back when I was at school mumble years ago, I played the trumpet to a mediocre standard - and I remember being damned frustrated when the violins got the tune and I had to play what seemed to me some atonal background gibberish.

Mind you, a small part of me regrets that all todays great composers gravitate towards film scores. Sure, its where the money is - but I'd love it if John Williams took a year out and wrote a symphony. He could be the next Tchaikovsky. Ah well.

Yea, played the Tuba in high school and in a pretty decent community band - which is where we dabbled in some Star Wars music. Nice low brass stuff in Darth Vader's theme, for sure.
