Ever felt uncomfortable with quicksand scenes?

We all enjoy various presentations of people sinking in mud or quicksand in the media. But has there ever been an occasion when you've seen something and felt that it wasn't quite "right"? The sort of thing I'm thinking of would be for example if a scene was a bit "too realistic".

An example for me would be the scene in the 1995 film "Run of the Country", where one of the male characters is knocked down an embankment into a mud-pit and is then forced under to drown by the weight of a tractor sliding down on him. Don't know whether it was the acting or the situation in general, but there was something about that scene that made enjoyment of the situation feel uncomfortable.

Has this ever happened to anybody else?

I'm not really a fan of grim endings myself. The exception being when it's the "bad guy" (or girl) who gets what's coming to them. There was one scene where some bad guys grabbed a girl, tied her up, threw her in a hole, and drowned her by dumping wet concrete on top of her. The scene was a little TOO realistic for me. There's a line between "damsel in distreess" and "torture porn" and to me that scene crossed it.

So far I haven't really experienced any quicksand scenes that made me uncomfortable but I can tell you that I have had a lot of quicksand scenes that really excited me.

Oddly enough, this particular scene was tough to watch for me as well, but it's a one-off as far as that goes (unless I'm forgetting something). The acting has something to do with it, and it was filmed unflinchingly. But really, I think it was the plausibility of how deadly the situation was. Kinda crossed a fantasy/reality line of some sort. But again, I honestly can't think of another scene that gave me that reaction.

I think thatt may have been what I was "getting at" in my original post. It was so realistic in the presentation that it makes you realise what the fantasy can mean in reality. Even though in a film/V series you know on an intellectual level it was faked it did fel real.

I don't mind a grim submergence, but I hate when there's excessive violence leading up to a scene. I always hated the scene in the old Tarzan film that co-starred Sean Connery where a man is attacked by a leopard before falling in.
