They put him in Cpl. Bryon's cuffs and hauled him away in his patrol car. Symbolic but it meant a lot to those involved. Scumbags like this are why we have the death penalty.

Good news! That wack job gives us Survivalists and Gun Nuts a bad name. No excuse for killing a police officer (or anybody else) except in self-defense. This was a cold-blooded stalking and murder- and then the coward ran off and hid in the woods. Seriously, if you've got enough of a beef with somebody to kill them, then do it- then call 911 and report it. Confess to exactly what you did, and take your punishment like a man (or woman.)

Had a case out in Western NY back in 1983. Leslie Ann Emick was beaten (yet again) by her common-law husband Marshall Allison. Before he fell asleep, he had told her that "this is the last straw" and that if she failed to kill herself the next day, he would kill both her and their two children. Before that night, he had repeatedly told her that if she told anybody about the (truly horrible) abuse, he would kill her, their kids, and her family. (He also kept her locked in their home when he was at work.) She woke up before he did, weighed her options (this was before Domestic Violence was "on the radar"), went and got his rifle and put five .22 longs into the back of his skull. She immediately picked up the 'phone and reported the shooting to the police. Her first conviction was thrown out because of Prosecutorial Misconduct (by a female DA, surprisingly) and after three trials she eventually did 2-5 years (eligible for parole after 18 months) instead of 25 to life. I still think that was an injustice- this was a clear case of self-defense, even if she did shoot him while he was sleeping.

It's funny how most of these guys claim they want to go out in a blaze of glory gunfight with the police, yet when most of them are cornered they just give up meekly and hand themselves over to the very guys they claimed they wanted to take out before they died.
