Finally, First real sink in over a year.

well today i finally got to have a nice sink in the mud flats ive been going to for years.

I also went to another spot to go check it out but once i got to the spot which was a 20 min walk down a secluded beach, there were 2 guys fishing with it clear site of the spot i wanted to check out. so that 40 min drive each way was all for nothing. but i figured i would wait for the tide to go out and hit the old faithful and it did not disappoint .

Best time to go is during the week and i normally go during the late hrs of the evening or early hrs of the morning. anyway i found a nice spot close to the shore and not to far away from the cleaning water hole that i was able to sink upto my chest pretty easy and still not feel a bottom. ill have to go there during the day when the tides out and take some picture of it.

anyway i guess its the start of the Aussie sinking season.

yeah it sure is a cool experience sinking under moon light. Just got to make sure its not to cold.

Congrats on your first sink of the year, and hope you have many more!

It happens to coincide with our first day where the temperatures failed to rise above freezing this season, as we are in our first arctic outbreak of the season here. We are expected to go down to -11˚C (12˚F) tonight here, with things staying colder than normal until the beginning of next week. It is now your turn for the heat.

Those fisherman do tend to always be at that spot at all kinds of weird hours of the day (and night), can be quite annoying..

I did manage to go once down there with the wifey which made it look a little bit less suss to those annoying fishermen. Pm me and I can tell you a place real close to there which may be a bit more secluded.

Man i dont think i could live in a place that gets that cold LOL coldest it gets here where i am is around 1 or 2' C in winter. hottest its been in melb is 48' C good thing is we dont get a heap of days like that in a row but it can be quite bad.

nothing a lil cold mud cant fix though

yeah the first time i went there it was like 12 midnight and there were a heap of people fishing around that spot but i was able to go to the point where they could see me and test it out. its a great spot.

Actually, since it is early in the season, this cold snap is relatively mild here in bc (harsher in other places to the east), albeit earlier than normal. Later on, here in southern BC, we get cold snaps with daytime temperatures of around -10˚C to -15˚C (14˚F to 5˚F), and overnight lows around -17˚C to -20˚C (1˚F to -4˚F) or colder. The cold snaps last around a week or so, before things warm back up to close to freezing for a while before the next cold snap. But, to the east of the Rockies, the temperatures get colder yet, with -30's˚C and -40's ˚C ( -22˚F to below -40˚F) in the prairies during their cold snaps.

Right now, any mud outside that isn't frozen yet stings your hand when you touch it! :shock:

Glad to hear about your fun sink. I still have yet to experience my first sink but my goal is to have my first sink around the spring and summer of 2015.
