Question for those who have been to Chester, Illinois

Postby quicksand_for_life » Wed Nov 26, 2014 7:36 pm

Hello everyone! quicksand_for_life here! My new friend, poolshark, and I have been talking about this for the past few days and we were wondering if anyone has ever sank into the quicksand that's around Chester, Illinois? I only live two and a half hours away from Chester, Illinois and poolshark plans on joining me on this trip to Chester by next year to go find a sinking spot as I would like to have my very first sink by next year. If anyone here knows anything about the quicksand in Chester I would love to hear from you.

It's like anywhere else, you just have to go and start looking. The last time I went there was several years ago on a recon for MPV. The water was high on the river and the slurry ponds were fenced off and dried up. There are probably still good occasional spots when the river is low but spring is not the time to go looking for that. One of the things that made Chester such a good location was having Chuck Lang there to report on conditions.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

That's pretty much why poolshark is wanting to join me on this trip as he's had a couple sinkings of his own and I never once experienced it yet so he's basically trying to help me out on my first sink. We're more than likely going to go there sometime in the summer so hopefully the conditions will be good enough for the both of us to have a good sink. Thanks for your input.
