Something to reflect upon. The predecessor mud forum to Quicksandfans was not operated by a producer, though that is not to say that one or more producers didn't have significant influence. But the thing to observe is that forum, Deep Sinking, left a lot to be desired when compared to Quicksandfans.
My personal opinion is that "producer dominated" is not the real issue, but rather instead, a politically acceptable coded phrase meaning that blatant piracy like over on blah blah blah.com is not allowed. I mean, what else is there that a person would want on a mud forum that is not already present on Quicksandfans? The forum stays up consistently, has sufficient bandwidth (somebody has to buy that to make that happen), tolerates a pretty fair amount of free speech (like this thread for instance), is kept reasonably well focused on sinking in deep mud, offers up free snippets from producers, and is generally kept free of trolls with no interest in mud.
So, my point is, just what is it that is missing? I submit that the only thing missing is use of the forum to facilitate piracy.
