This i a classic scene, and very well done. Thanks for the link!
Now if only someone, someday would remake the scene to include a busload of cheerleaders... :D

Kidding! (mostly...) ;)

I'm afraid that even using a rather small bus (e.g. volkswagon bus?) it would take a rather large pit.

I suppose the real essence of that scene, or a re-make of it, would be having one or more characters trapped inside something that is sinking, not necessarily a station wagon. If that something was a good deal smaller then it would be a good deal easier to do such a scene.

Well, Smart Fortwo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_Fortwo would fit into a reasonable pit, but it is a terribly expensive toy... Isetta http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isetta wasn't expensive, but now it is - they all are precious museum pieces.

When you mention Volkswagen, I can't think about a busload of cheerleaders. I think about a VW type 2 (T2) full of high hippie girls. It should not necessarily sink, it may just get stuck at the edge of the pit. And those high hippie girls, smoking and giggling, and not properly clothed (no underwear, that's for sure), would go into the pit and try to push it out. Of course, they would sink and get stuck themselves, but they would not succeed in getting the van out. Then they would take a shovel and try to dig the wheels out. Of course, they would only bury themselves much deeper instead. Finally, they will realize that they have to help each other out. They would try to pull, to dig out, to use ropes, to put some stuff from the van for the leverage - all in vain. They won't scream in terror, however. They would giggle, make fun of each other, and share their cigarettes and beer. I imagine that one girl would sit on the roof of the van playing the guitar and singing... And of course no one would drown. Somebody would find them, tow the van out, then fish all the girls out of the pit one by one. And the final scene would show the carwash - cleaning of the van and of all the girls, still high and not properly clothed. :) An off-topic link (deviantart) http://fav.me/d858rlx :P
