In the House of Wax movie (the 2005 remake), there are bloopers from the final scenes where you can see Elisha Cuthbert getting stuck in a melting "wax" bed. It's really peanut butter, but hey, if it's good enough for a 40-million dollar movie...

I think it may have been laid over a trampoline. (maybe a 6 inch layer?) It just seemed to have the sort of waterbed look, except none of the wave-action you would see from deep quicksand. (if it were just deep clay, or even peanut butter, I don't think it would have had any waterbed-like dip where people were standing)

I could be wrong, but I've been on waterbeds, quicksand pits, and trampolines, so I think I may be right here...

The temperature required to melt the wax would be unbearably hot to be in. Though, if it was at the same consistancy, it would have great potential for sinking. One thing I am wondering about now, if the density of melted wax is less than water, will a lifejacket provide buoyacy in it?

there are different types of wax with different melting points where I work we have a natural parafene wax that will become quite soft during hot summer days it comes in 25# blocks but I believe its rather expensive

I don't have much hair, and I don't plan to go all the way under in wax. I also wear hood on my rainsuit when I sink, so if I did go under, my hair would stay (even if wax got into my hood, but then I wouldn't be able to get it out of my hair). If a lifejacket can't provide buoyancy in the wax, then I might go under. Something I'd want to try. If wax sticks to nylon, then I'd really be stuck, but that's part of the fun.

By the way, waxing hair is painful.
