Apropos of not much of anything really, apart from just recently turning 27 and having the realization that my fascination with quicksand has spanned most of the time I've been alive, I'm just genuinely curious as to the the age demographics of everyone here. Simple as that. I've got a vague idea, but I think it'll be interesting to see it documented.
Anyway, it's anonymous, so the stigma around age discussion is non-existent. But feel free to chime in and represent your age/age group if you want, obviously.

Honestly, I think what you will get here is a graph of the ages of forum members who happen to see the poll and respond. I think the average age would likely be about the same as the average age of people. I don't think having this kink is age-dependent in any way.

I don't know why this question has never been asked before but I like it. Dave and I have always had this theory that a good percentage of us got our beginning with early television and regular broadcasts from the golden age of quicksand. Interesting to see the single largest response thus far comes from our age group.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

@YerK:
I'd be surprised if that's true, to be honest. I mean, the prevalence of quicksand as a plot device in mainstream media has been on a steady decline for a long time, as everyone is aware. And where did everyone's interest in it originate? Since it's not innate, we can assume it began (for most, not all) as a result of some form of exposure to it, likely in a piece of media, and likely at a relatively young age.
So I think it just follows logically that, as it becomes scarcer in media as time progresses, so will it become scarcer as a sexual interest. I'd love to be proven wrong though. I suppose Minecraft's got quicksand (might require a mod though), and that has become a pretty household name, so who knows, maybe there'll be a surge in the younger age group in the next few years.

I submit that this survey has been rendered questionable by some lack of clarity about if it is asking about the fan's age at present or at the initiation of the fan's interest.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

I don't know. "How Old Are You?" is pretty specific. While it's hardly scientific I think a greater proportion of "older" respondents might lend credence to the idea that we came about as a result of increased exposure in our day. Might raise more questions than it answers. It's just fun.

I was thinking another survey was in order to query that. I'd have to change my answer to 3yo. Meh, I knew what I liked... even then. Just didn't know why.

The pro-offered choices are clear enough. With the first range beginning at 18 its pretty clear the intent was to ask about current age. But, one of the follow-up comments made a reference to onset. I don't have the exact words in front of me but the comment made reference to that.

I can remember being fascinated by quicksand at about age 10. That's about the time of the glory years. The 80's when that plot device was a lot more common. I still remember a manwich commercial involving an explorer guy in quicksand. My personal fave qs commercial. Sadly I can't find it.

Re: Poll: What's the Age of the Average Quicksand Fan?
An interesting,but not scientific,survey People seem to become QS fans at an early age My 1st sinking experience was at 11 years old. but many stay as fans for life Me for one!! The point I am trying to make is that the age of fans is probably not relevant to anything in particular What might be of interest is a survey of starting ages I suspect that with universal access to internet information any potential QS fetishist is going to start younger How many subsequently give up is not going to be discovered on this site!!
