I beg to differ: the worst phone call you can receive is the one that informs you that your partner has just expired.
But that's just me. Call me sentimental, but there is no phone call worse than that (bar the phone call that tells you that Dave Lodoski thinks sinking is bad, the one that explains that Nessie lives on solid land, or the one that reveals that Bob Park isn't a spittle-flecked flatlander twat.
You young people have it so easy; you soft bastards :)

Is this Bob Park the physicist and author of Voodoo Science or a different Bob Park?

Yes, it is. Bob 'Strawman' Park; Bob 'vicious ad hominem Park.

Wow. I hate this about my brain. I can always come up with something worse. Worse than "your spouse has died" would be "Your only child has committed suicide" the day after your spouse died. Worse still? "The food you cooked for your family picnic has killed everyone else, but left you paralyzed." would be worse, I think.

I don't want to come up with worse than that, so I'll stop here.

The worst phone call you could ever get would be a robo-call, originating from the government, telling everybody -- truthfully and with proof to back it up -- that a meteor is hurtling to Earth, and we all have six hours left to live.

I don't think it would be difficult to come up with something worse than an idiot mime. That's not a game I'm very fond of though. I am very good at tracing phone calls and numbers so if I really got tired of the mime I'd find him and cap him twice right between the eyes. With a silencer on my .22 Ruger of course. What else would you use for a mime?
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

An invisibility cloak and a bat. Beat him to death in public the applause from the bystanders will be epic! :D

My brain always does the same thing, and not just with phone calls.
