74 Years ago Sunday....

Seventy-four years ago , Just after 0600 local time in the Denmark Strait on the morning of 24 May, 1941, HMS Hood was lost in action with KM Bismarck. There are no more remaining living survivors now. But the Hood Association will always continue to remember. One of the epic sea chases of all time. There are only a handful of survivors now left from Bismarck now too. That one man in twenty was all that survived from the crews of these two mighty warships remains one of the more poignant parts of their tale.

John Pertwee, of Doctor Who fame, was a member of the Hood's crew until just a few weeks before it was sunk by Bismarck. Luckily for him, he was selected for officer training and transferred off the ship.

Kind of stands out, in all the stories for Dr Who, there's not a single Hood one. Plenty of WW II themed stories, but not a one with Hood. Interesting
