I'm not that much concerned about the mud itself. As long as you don't allow it to get into open wounds or your mouth it should be okay anytime.
More annoying and potentially dangerous are all those biting+stinging insects and bugs and ticks. I do wear waterproof gear including boots and gloves and use repellants all the time, but they still continue to bite me. When you're one of those "just shorts"-dudes also check for leeches before going home.

I really and truly can report a huge fat zero on this...and I'm sure my sinkings must be in the hundreds.

I have had swimmer's ear, but I caught that from a shower nozzle in a bathroom, not from a mudpit.

I actually found a mud spot right next to my house but for some reason I'm really paranoid that I'm gonna get sick because the water that was in the mud was swamp water DX I WAS wearing a bathing suit and did not fully submerge my face in the mud, nor ingest any of the mud/water! BUT I did discover a cut on my leg, so that freaked me out a bit! I also jumped in a pond to kind of wash off the mud before I went home and took a shower! xP

I've only been sinking for about 5 years now but I've never caught anything. I actually never even thought about it until recently when I saw on the news that there woman was running a mud run race & she got a bacterial infection & went blind. That freaks me out!!!!!

Freak not.

A lot of these wild one in a million kind of things usually happen to people with some kind of compromised immune system. If there was anything to fear from "regular" mud use we would have buried somebody a long time ago. And you are way to pleasant a ray of sunshine for some annoying bug to infect anyway.

Haha thanks! My immune system isn't really the best so that was a reason why I get worried. I mean, I'm not gonna stop going in mud but now I'm a little paranoid haha Oh well.

It's good to followup on this thread. I recently worked with a model who stated afterwards that they are experiencing flu-like symptoms from being in the mud. I've worked with two other actors/models in the same spot and they have had no issues: I have had limited contact with the mud and had no issues, as well.

I will ask everyone going forward if they have compromised immune systems. As for this model -- we'll be working in the studio going forward.
