Re: new Jersey deep mud spot
I tried to go out there the other day for a run after work. Im not too far from there, but the tides were real high so I probably will go back on Monday for a run. Still not sure of a path but let you know. Sorry I could not find out before the weekend since nice hot weekend for mud. I always worry about tides though in any muddy areas.

Be certain to check the tide table for your area, to choose the best time to be there:

Re: new Jersey deep mud spot
I didn't get out there last monday due to the weather, but looking at google maps, the potential quicksand/mud spots are very close to the parking lot. From the parking lot, go right of the lake on the trail and that begins the area where you can see from the parkway. As long as the weather is fine, I will try to do my run against this Monday to see whether the trails are good to get out there, or just marshy. My only concern is the tides as it is a very tidal area from the bay but will look at the tide schedule.

npc hunter,
Cheesequake park has some marshy areas and trails but not the place you are talking about on the parkway. That place is a little south of it. The only way to get there without trespassing is to go past the aberdeen-matawan train station and take high street. Looks like some parking lots there. If you cross over the train tracks, you have direct access and looks private. I'm kind of familiar with the area. Hope that helps. Watch the tides. It comes in directly from the bay.

Hey sorry, no it's a spot by me. Literally less than half a mile from my apartment.

That's amazing you have a spot so close to your place, and I love that pit. Not only thick mud but it is a little below the grass line whick makes it so dificult to get out. Would love to see the entire video. I'm sort of familiar with your area and did not realize that their are mudpits like that. Down here it is tidal and hit or miss depending on amount of rainfall, time of year, etc.
It's so great you have such a willing gf also. My ex was not really into the quicksand/mud but enjoyed getting stuck. Unfortuntely with my work and life schedule I haven't even attempted this year.
