Could you narrow it down for us a bit? Alexandria, Egypt? Tennessee? Virginia?
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Perhaps someone will pipe up if you can be more specific...but geography tends not to be our friend when it comes to sinking pals.

I had some awesome sinking partners but it tended to be travel time and plane tickets. I did much, much better on my own than I ever did waiting for someone to share with me.

This is true even though I am female, and therefore very lucky. Men always wanted to be helpful.

Go to wet areas on public land (parks and wildlife refuges) and start checking them out. Be persistent. Yes, you will strike out much more often than you will score but when you do score, you won't believe your luck...and then, it is all yours, and then YOU will be the one reading these messages, and deciding whether or not you will share!

Use your imagination, as a solution could be very close. Look what this enterprising individual did:

First, you should look at Google Maps, using the "Satellite" view, and search for all bodies of water - lakes, ponds, streams, creeks, rivers, marshy areas, bogs, meadows, etc. But, make certain it isn't on private property. If you find spots that look good on the screen (like lots of mud/sand bars along a river), then you can go out there and investigate it yourself, to see if there is anything there. It takes a bit of trial and error, and we wish you the best of luck! :D

You could try looking around:

Huntley Meadows Park, especially Barnyard Run and Dogue Creek:

This spot along Dogue Creek looks especially interesting:

Dyke Marsh:

Mason Neck:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@38.6572349,-77.1756045,9778m/data=!3m1!1e3

Pohick Creek:

I don't know whether or not if that part of the Potomac River is subject to tides (looks tidal), but if it is, then remember to check the tide tables and be safe.

Hope that gives you ideas of where to look. Good luck! :)

When I lived in Southern Maryland I used to go to a place near Port Tobacco. Huge quarry with lots of slurry pits.

if you search this GPS coordinate you should find it. 38.504176, -77.235696

Its about 35 miles from Alexandria
