Symbol on a ship

Can anyone tell me the meaning of this symbol ? It is on an ore ship I think.

Kham can likely be more authoritative but my best guess is the symbol marks the location (along the length of the ship) of its thrusters (propellers).

That is the symbol indicating that a bow or stern thruster is roughly under where the symbol is painted, there's a couple variations on them.

Is that the Calumet there in the whole photo?

What a spot :P

The last railway bridge is the tightest one, you can just sort of see it in the shot where they lining up for the road bridge. Think you have to call 3 hours or something in advance for the operator, since they not actually in Manistee

I spent most of my summers there growing up. It's my Mom's home town.

Most of the east shore Lake Michigan ports are nice spots, better to visit as a civillian when can enjoy the summer and bikinis :D

Grand Haven probably tops there, but finding a spot to stay I think is brutal; you'd have to kill someone to get a place there to live :P
