an excellent group of damsels! i'm intrigued by the backstory of Sand Chain... has she been dragged to this spot for an execution by sinking? or has the slaver made a mistake and must now try to extricate his valuable property? either way, she's just starting a memorable struggle...

Another outstanding collection of your artwork! I'm particularly fond of "WB_Gal"... there's just something about a sexy, scantily clad muscle babe stuck and sinking in the mud who's unable to get free of the mire's suction in spite of her strength.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, WB! :D

Now a couple of others, including a furry in a tarpit I did as a request...

(from a letter to the editor of the Neverwinter Post Dispatch, October 24 edition)

To whom it May concern:

Now...I know the elves SAY they keep stumbling into these bogs by accident. And the first, oh, 35 times or so, you can buy that. Accidents happen, signs get moved, wizards cast "Transmute Rock to Mud" for shits n' giggles, that kind of thing.

But after a while you do begin to wonder. Perhaps it's just me.

First, most of the bogs hereabouts are clearly marked and well known, and yet they keep wandering into them. The same elves, in the same bogs, over and over. And of course they are incredibly happy and grateful when one pulls them out, which is nice, I suppose. But when the same elf gets stuck five times in the same week in the same quicksand pool at the same time each day when one just so happens to be returning from a long day at work...well..

Second...the same elf girl said that some oaf had taken the warning signs the rangers placed on the trail warning hikers and passerbys that the area was hazardous. Leaving aside the question of how she kept forgetting about the bog while gathering herbs/looking for rare orchids/taking pictures/skinny dipping/walking her ferret each and every time, you'd think she would have reported the problem to the forest rangers by now. Not only has she failed to do so, when I put a replacement warning sign up, I found it had been removed the next day. On a vague hunch I took a different way to work the next morning, one which led past her home, and surreptitiously checked her trash cans. Oddly enough, I found both the original sign AND my replacement. Once again, that evening, I heard her plaintive cries and was delayed while I retrieved a muddy, slightly disheveled eleven girl from the sticky mire.

When I finally got her back safely on land, I asked how she had managed to wind up stuck and sinking yet again. "Ummm...my horse threw a shoe or my boat sank, I can't remember which," she said. She then hugged me, thanked me profusely while giving me a slightly breathless, adjective-loaded recount of how so very quickly she had sank into the bog spite of, or perhaps because of, her struggles, how the goopy mire had felt around her while holding her in place, and whether I would be working the next day or not. She seemed extremely happy when I answered in the affirmative. While I still do not quite know what to make of these events, I have begun to suspect a pattern of some sort at work, and I believe I may be meeting her again on that path in the near future. As she seems remarkably accident-prone, it may be just as well.

Third, regarding "Transmute Rock to Mud..." a bit of light research has led me to an elvish potion-monger and cosmetician of some repute in my town who sells both that particular spell-scroll, as well as a heavily-discounted variant titled simply "Earth-to-Mud," which she reportedly advertises as extremely easy for a novice to cast. She also sells small rechargeable wands with this spell pre-loaded for the purpose of self-defense (so she claims) as well as local topographic maps with the locations of swamp and bog areas clearly marked, "For reasons of...safety, yeah, that's it," she assured me. She seemed slightly nervous and kept unconsciously scratching behind one ear while we spoke, drawing attention to the spot of dried mud there. Afterward I found myself contemplating a community bulletin board with additional maps with prominently marked swamps and copious notes in both Elvish and Common written in many different hands before several customers came into her shop, seeking the sorcerer's wares. Once again, I find myself suspecting a pattern.

I HAVE considered asking the local Temple of St. Billieboncea, the ranger's guild, or perhaps the mayor for a bit of support for a professionally-conducted public safety course in outdoor safety and situational awareness with an emphasis on quicksand safety, avoidance and escape. As a preliminary step, I've floated a petition to see what kind of enthusiasm the locals have for the idea, and I'm both pleased that it's received a remarkable amount of attention and support in only three days, and slightly puzzled that virtually of the 2000 signatures it's received since I began are primarily from local elven women, with the exceptions of someone calling himself "Lord Purple Monkey of IIK" (clearly an alias) and the charming young Drow lady who recently began working at Gertie's Stop n' Slop with the odd latex fixation. Regardless of the demographic weirdness, I'm happy that there appears to be some enthusiasm for this idea among the group of people obviously most in need of remedial training.

Yours Truly,

Vrekandis P. Vinebender III

(Apologies in advance, and lovely work as always, PM2K--perhaps you can guess my favorite...?)
