Found this almost on my back doorstep
During one of my local rambles, I came across this large boggy area. Nothing was touched- this is exactly as it appears. The last of the watery bit is surrounded by some sort of algae and the rest of the bog is pure peat of varying depth and random consistency. If I walk steadily, it is easy and safe to cross most of it- as soon as I stop, down I go! In places it's waist deep and quite thick at the bottom. Part of it was beyond the depth of my walking stick and quite fluid, even though I was standing safely on the bog only a couple of feet away. I couldn't tell the difference between this spot and where I was standing. This spot even shows up on Google Earth, albeit at low resolution and I intend to fully explore this area as I think this is not a one off. BTW, anyone may use the picture for their own purposes.
Mostly harmless...

i live in a very similar area. the only problem being how exposed it is, even the most remote areas have ramblers and hikers! and how chilly it gets too... i mean the only times i can go out there is when the sun is blazing down. which isn't often and only leaves a window of May-July

Very Baskerville-ish, AuroraMan!
May I seize these for future use in QS fakery please? Your images, so I reckon it's your call.
Thanks,

No problem. Anything of my own that I post is free for anyone to use, unless I've submitted something from another source. If anyone wants to repost, just give us a mention.

The pictures are from way up in the northern highlands of Scotland. On a misty day, you might think you were on the Baskerville set. There are places I would tread carefully around here and they are not at all obvious. I've not been up to much lately (sunspot minimum!), but I'm starting to get a few more shots in now. Weather's awful at the moment. I bet that bog looks like a pond now.
