Strange Fantasy (edit)

Sometimes I wonder about the lack of certain fantasies. I love women and I've pictured just about every nice looking lady I've ever laid eyes on in quicksand for at least a second. All of them except my wife and certain girlfriends from years ago. That strikes me as being just as weird as anything else.

I don't have more than little snippet fantasies anymore either.

But it's not much of a mystery. Once I found out that quicksand was attainable...it seemed a waste of time to sit around fantasizing about it.

I'm 55. And I wasn't actually talking about anything separate from the quicksand fantasy (either indulging it, or thinking about it).

But what you wrote was true of me at age 20...about life generally.

Yeah, no real quicksand memories before 20. Think about it. I was 32 when i discovered I was not alone. It was another three years before I actually met anyone else who was into this in '98 and then memories began to accumulate like crazy. Now I'm almost 53 and it's really not a surprise that I don't dream. Like Nessie I've been fortunate to live a lot of dreams and turn them into memories.

Life really doesn't start happening for most people until well after 20. No need to rush.

I experienced my first, apparently, before I can remember it. I was at Yellowstone and I made a dash as a two- or three- year old for a boiling mud pot. Throughout my youth and early teen years I had this fantasy about wanting to rescue a beautiful damsel-in-distress, but it wasn't until puberty that it became a fetish. Some of the sketches that have appeared here and in other places I started when I was 17 or 18. I was certain that I was the only person in the world struck with this odd (or, then-perceived as being horrible) desire, and felt terrible guilt for it (something with which I still struggle today). In 1995, I found that I was not alone.

The nostalgia. Always loved that song. But it proves it's point as we age.
