I bought a new truck (finally)

This is a most unusual vehicle to see on the road. I like it, but I wouldn't want to drive one everyday. It would definitely get attention, which you might not want.
My Silverado seems to blend right in, even though it's big (with the 8.2ft bed). People would notice the [insert fancy car] a few cars down the road instead.
This is why I don't want to drive my 2SS everyday, as it stands out and gets attention, even though camaros are common. One time someone tried to steal it while I was in the store and it was parked right next to a ferrari at the time. That's why I won't drive it downtown anymore.

I got interested in them after watching one of those "Prepper" type shows on TV. The end of the world people like them because the engine will run on basically any petroleum product (like waste motor oil) if mixed properly. Also they're entirely mechanical, so no electronics to fry if they get hit with EMP. I just like the fact that it's an off road capable truck but has the price point of a crappy used car. Can take it out and play in the mud with it but not feel too bad if you break it.

One of these years I really want to get a pickup truck. Problem is, you can buy a house in an inexpensive area cheaper than a new F-250 4x4.

One drawback with a full-size pickup is that if you have both an extended cab (or worse, a crew cab) and an 8' box, parking is a real challenge.

I'm rather fond of my current vehicle, an '07 Subaru Forester. It's tall cabin means I can sit comfortably, AWD gets me to work and back in winter, and with the rear seat folded down I can haul a LOT of stuff. Needed to skid a fallen tree one day, so I hooked onto it with the Forester. Did a better job than a 2WD tractor would have- crawled right up the hill with it.

One of the Concept Cars that never got made was the Pontiac Rageous. Looked sort of like an '80s Trans Am, but with a long hatch in the back. Room for four, all-wheel drive, and an adjustable suspension- drop it low for cruising on the Interstate, or crank it up for off-road. Best part- you could fold down the rear seats, and get 4x8 sheets of plywood, sheetrock, etc. inside- and close the hatch. That would have been awesome, and sold like hotcakes. So, of course, GM never built it.

The thing with getting a piece of land, I feel as though I'd have less freedom than I do now. (I can go wherever I want whenever I want in the US). I'd like to get a decent sized piece of land in the country, maybe if I was lucky enough to have a caterpillar, I could easily dig holes for sinking. Yes, I have used a caterpillar to dig before.
This concept car you're talking about sounds really interesting. I am a big fan of cars, I'd love to talk more about this.
One thing is, if I lived in an urban place like Los Angeles (thankfully I don't) I probably would have saved up longer and bought a Tesla P90D or something instead of the turbocharged diesel truck, as I really like Teslas, but unfortunately sporty cars don't allow me to go where I usually go.
Yeah, parking is a pain, the truck always sticks way out of the parking space. People really aren't too happy about my truck either. And there's paralell parking (Ugh!) where my truck usually doesn't fit between the two white lines, and while I'm trying to make it fit, I hold up traffic. But you have to take your time when you paralell park. It was a lot easier parking with my camaro, but several times people have fucked with it, someone breaks the window, someone scratches the beautiful paint job with a key, (I plasti-dipped it blue over the paint later on). I'd rather not park it downtown anymore. Nothing bad has happened to the truck like the shit my camaro has been through in the city. And also I love my camaro way too much to let people do shit to it.
My first vehicle was a 1995 Silverado 1500 truck, which I hated. (No shocks, no brakes, no driver side window, misfiring cylinders, driver door don't open, bald tires, engine was always flooded, etc.) It was fucking horrible. I was 17 when I got it, that was when I didn't have much money. I'm 27 now and I make decent money.
My new truck has 4WD, and it might be able to pull big things uphill through snow, mud, rocks, and whatever.

A piece of property private enough for my own mud pit is high on my priorities......FYI, you can RENT a backhoe to dig the hole. They drop it off and pick it up a day later no questions asked. Not much of a learning curve either.

I have a dream about a deuce-and-a-half, or a halftrack, and outfitting the back as a cabin for camping. I've got access to undeveloped land up in the mountains here, and go up there to camp several times a year. How cool it would be to pull in, park, and proclaim "Ok, I am all set up now!"

I built a trailer that I can pull with my truck. It's basically a house on wheels. It has a bedroom, restroom, microwave, refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, couch, TV, weights, cardio bike, etc. And there is some extra space. If I was ever evicted, I could live in my trailer until I get a new place. Then park the truck, trailer, and car there.
