Six Words

Postby nachtjaeger » Wed Feb 10, 2016 9:12 pm

I'm a member of a Space Opera group on Facebook. One of the members posted a challenge to write a Space Opera/Science Fiction story- but do it in six words.
There were over 350 replies, and some of them were really good- like "That planet should not be there." or "Death was kinder than the Gorlax."
But one really caught my eye- somebody in the group (not me) posted these six words:
"Reaching their chests, the quicksand solidified."

Cool. You should try that here. Challenge everyone to write a mud/quicksand story in however many words and see what you get. Might be just as interesting.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

To tell a story in six words implies a beginning, middle, and end. I keep thinking something like "Shuddering as she sank, Jane understood."

She was wrong. It got worse.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Solid quicksand... no, that would just be... erm... the ground! but quicksand that suddenly magically solidified at chest depth is a whole different story and would make for quite a struggle, I think there are quite a few here who would find that exciting, myself included! ;)
