That's some very interesting engineering there.

The video is viral, and the Internet is going crazy over it.
In some ways we should worry about taking robotics to a new level, and in some ways we don't need to. The type of hardware we use today is not capable of running a complex intelligence like the human brain can, that isn't to say that there won't be one day, after all, the human brain is just ordinary matter, it probably can be simulated.

Considering the brightest AI is dumber than a flatworm, I'd say we got lots of wiggle room just yet. But the machines that get more and more advanced and follow programming, will be a factor more and more in every part of civilization. Especially in warfare

One thing they really have to work on is quieter servos. That whining would drive me nucking futs after about 10 minutes.

All I can say about that is, deal with it. From my experience, it takes more patience than anything else I can think of to work on machines/systems (robotics, electronics, engines, etc.) The small sounds are the least of the annoyance. If THAT drives you nucking futs, you probably don't have the patience to sit at a computer for 8+ hours a day with mental labor (similar to mathematics or chess), as well as repetitive trial and error giving you a headache (welcome to my life).
The people designing those robots, some of them might not even be aware of the whining sound.
