Anybody else ever have a FedEx Ground package get lost?

We've always had good luck with UPS. Once, during the Holiday rush, a package got on the wrong truck- and came straight back the next day. One other time, a package was a day later than promised- during Hurricane Sandy.

All shippers have good moments and bad but at least most of them will locate something once it's found to be missing. The worst is the U.S. Post Office which once it misplaces something you are absolutely out of luck. Even their tracking is questionable but I guess it doesn't really matter since they aren't going to look for it.

Day Fourteen. FedEx Ground has repeatedly refused my requests to grab the package, take it to the nearest shipping store, and overnight it to me.

After sitting in Troutdale, Oregon for THREE DAYS (the amount of time it should have taken to deliver it in the first place) it is finally on its way, and has made it as far as Oklahoma. :-( It was already too late to be of any use last Friday.

And to make this a little more on-topic (even though this is the off-topic forum) this was material for one of the props I was going to use in the video shoot next weekend.

I am filing a claim to get the shipping charges refunded. Not holding my breath. Might be worth his hourly fee to have my Lawyer send them a very nasty letter demanding an apology, and details of how they are going to change their procedures so that nobody else gets screwed like this.

As they say, Nacht;

MAKE
THEM
FAMOUS

Post the whole sorry mess everywhere you normally frequent, put the word out on then. For there IS such a thing as BAD publicity. And if they being assholes about it, there is no reason at all to show the slightest shred of mercy toward them. Name Names. Every damn thing they fucked up. Make them bleed money, the only thing they care about

I guess I have not. I hope it shows up. Until then, complain!

For anyone who is thinking to run to the Post Office, though...

A place I worked at tried to fire FedEx and use third-class mail to cut costs. The Post Office damaged 20,000 business cards and we never got reimbursed by them either despite sending photos of the disaster. Two packages sent the same day arrived at the same destination two weeks apart. True, we know third-class is slow, but if you can allow the time, you'd think you could at least get the slow service you're entitled to.

I have walked mail that isn't mine to my neighbors.

And a check I'm due for freelance design work hasn't shown up and it's been over two weeks. My client will have to stop payment on that and re-issue it. That check only had to go two miles.

Growling,
Nessie

I promise that yours won't be the first such missive they've received so I wouldn't expect too much. I sure wouldn't waste my time with a lawyer over it. There are times when I've ordered things from China that arrived through the mail in a week. There have been others when something from in the state takes even longer. Usually when you get those the shipping label looks like it was scrawled by a second grader and it's a miracle you ever got it. It's entirely possible that the shipper screwed up so don't fret and go with what you got.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.
