Yes, admittedly that does sound a bit unkind and perhaps we shouldn't put down new writers who are inspired to first put finger to keyboard because of their intense interest in quicksand so their enthusiasm outstrips their literary skills . I've always written since I was very young, even my early day school books were full of me writing about my favourite television programmes* and was lucky to have an English teacher who encouraged my creative writing when preparing for exams. It's always something I've nurtured, and a few years ago I was involved in an internet group of erotic writers (a number of whom were professionals) and that really upped my game!

So let's encourage and rather than be critical just for the sake, offer some ideas for improvement?

*I should also add because I was quite ill very early on in life and didn't get out to play much, my parents also taught me to read and write before I even got to primary school, and always encouraged my sister and I with reading and book games.

Interesting. I think something similar happens with me. It's fuzzy, because I have never thought too much about it (even though I have shot several 'final submersion' scenarios over the years).

It may seem evasive on my part, but I am not a submersion fan. My feeling about folks who are is that it's more of a mental 'Haha!' thing. That's just a guess. And even if it's correct, it would only apply to a portion of the crowd. That's how these things go.

This thread has been an interesting read. These last two posts say a great deal about how I think many people might look at it. Personally I'm a huge submersion fan and within the group of those who like it I think it breaks down more from there. If I'm really honest about it I think much of my fascination with the entire genre is somehow related to a latent sadism on my part. I view quicksand as more of a trap, a type of natural bondage, a place for me to do whatever I want to and with the victim. From a very young age I took a great fascination with women drowning, being burned at the stake, and generally being helpless while something awful happened. I don't think it's any kind of misogyny because I treasure women. There's just something about it that focuses my desires.

I'm sure this represents some seriously messed up repressed "mommy issues" but the ultimate irony is that I've never laid an unwanted hand on a woman and wouldn't allow anyone else to do so either. I like to think of myself as being a proper gentlemen but that does not appear to extend all the way down to deep inside. That part of me does come to the surface a bit during sex as I frequently like to play just a bit rough and am probably not the most generous partner. Fortunately there appear to be at least some women who appreciate those qualities at least some of the time. It's complicated but it all ties together somehow.

So yes I like to see women sinking and struggling without pity as they fight to avoid a certain doom. The more the merrier. Based on past experience with audience demands for videos I'd say I'm probably in a silent majority of some kind.
