Scientists find USS Independance wreck off San Francisco

From Bring the Heat

Not like she was lost, or anything ;)
They knew where she had been scuttled. She is in remarkable condition judging the sonar scans.

Just look for the spot on the sea floor that's glowing in the dark.......that thing must be hot as hell.

It's contaminated but it only takes a few feet of water to shield substantial radioactivity. I know environmental types will take issue with this but at that depth there's not much to worry about.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

No, they dumped a lot worse contaminated waste in the area as well, and they aren't worried about that at all. Same thing with these chowderheads in California; the drought is a direct result of their idiotic policies, but dont tell them that. Plus, the simple solution, is to build a bunch of nuclear power plants, and use the energy to desalinate sea water. But the instant you mention 'nukleur' they completely lose the fucking bubble. Uneducated, illiterate MORONS

Yup. That's why they use pools of water to store used core rods for reactors. In terms of bang for your buck there's no better shielding.
The last time I got into a debate about nuclear power the moron told me with a straight face that the electricity from nuclear power plants was radioactive and gives you cancer. From then on pledged to myself just to tune the envirotards out. There's no hope for them.

I wonder if the radiation could cause genetic mutations in the offspring of local wildlife that get too close...
